The relationship between the Rivel Guadalquivir and
Coria del Rio dates back to its first inhabitants
and in the modern age such is the attachment to its
river that on July 16 the Virgen del Carmen is carried
in a boat procession on the Guadalquivir .
It is a beautiful sight to see the Virgin being
carried by the local residents, as impressive as its
Holy week which has been declared of National Tourist
Interest in Andalusia.
Don’t miss the Descent from the brotherhood
of Cristo de la Vera Cruz and of Nuestra Señora
de la Concepción.
To conclude your visit, on early Resurrection Sunday
the traditional and famous embraces of the Virgen
de la Soledad and her resurrected son are enacted.
Other exciting fiestas are that of the Grand Fair,
in September or of the Albur a fish that is caught
in the river.
In the first part of May some one thousand kilograms
of fried albur are served in the beautiful Paseo Carlos
de mesa promenade.
