Alcala de Guadaira

Out of the central valley of the Guadalquivir, and lying against an eleven-towered castle, rises a picturesque village once known as Alcalá de los Panaderos for the enormous mills scattered across its area, which have been restored to safeguard its Arab past.

In a pleasant stroll through the village and its surroundings the traveller will come across the Marcherilla Castle the Posito House a two. Story building built in the eighteenth century with a brick façade flanked by pilasters; the palace and necropolis of Gandul an example of a megalithic settlement and tombs characteristic of the early copper age; and the churches of Santiago, San Sebastian and San agustin.

If you come during Holy Week you will have a magnificent view from the heights of the Roman bridge of the Arrest of Our Father Jesus a festivity that has been declared of National Tourist Interest.
